Dr. Maringer, in 2007, after 47 years with Siemens (a globally active, Germany based electrical engineering firm) started his own consulting practice in Canmore, Alberta. In various preceding international assignments within the Siemens organization, he held senior positions in a variety of functions from R&D, Manufacturing, Strategic Planning to General Management. For years he was member of the strategic adivsor team for the top Siemens executive board in Munich as well at times as technology advisor to the EU-Commission/Brussels. In 1990 he and his family settled for good in Canada. As President & CEO he helped to establish Siemens Canada as a major canadian electrical engineering firm, overseeing all Siemens activities in Canada in some 120 locations from coast to coast.
His education as an engineer (MSEE, Hamburg/Germany) and many years of research work in international R&D facilities sharpened his strong technical/engineering mind paired with analytical skills based on hands-on experience in highly diversified technical and related industrial/economical fields, large scale industrial projects and manufacturing / factories. He also holds a Master Economics degree (Hagen/Germany, incl. 3 years of research and related studies at Tokyo University/Japan). Thereafter he received his PhD (Dr.rer.pol.in Macro Economics) in Munich/Germany. This has been augmented by his appointment as teaching Professor in International Management at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena/Germany. Their economics faculty just lauded his 25th year of active teaching anniversary.
Dr. Maringer served/serves on many boards (public listed, privately held, not for profit, etc, in various countries) as Chairman or Director, Trustee or Advisor.
Twelve years ago he founded the consulting practice Maringer Consulting Alberta Ltd with offices in Alberta/Canada, Den Haag/The Netherlands and Hamburg/Germany. The technology focused consulting practice covers alternative energy technology choices, power plants, feasibility studies, market-entry studies, focus on transformation from oil related into Methane (nat gas, LNG, CNG, CO2, etc) and renewables (incl methanation, storage) operated modalities. Also the standard consulting portfolio, like screening of M&A candidates, advisor to start-ups, coaching of senior exec’s; advisor for business modelling, structuring international organization, globalization related consulting i.e. off-shoring, on-shoring, location placement is on his menue..
Germany recognized his service to Germany with the “Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande” (Order of Merit of Germany). He also is recipient of the prestigious 2006 John W. Hodgins Memorial Award for Distinguished Engineer, McMaster University, Ont.
