Farrukh Akram, P.Eng., heads development of innovative physics based machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions for the oil & gas industry, focusing on production performance enhancement, artificial lift, transient flow modeling and recovery optimization. Farrukh is a practicing professional engineer with APEGA and a long term member of SPE. Earlier Farrukh led global upstream analytics practice for Accenture prior to joining IBM leading development of cognitive solutions for oil and gas. Farrukh spent most of his career in Schlumberger where he held number of technical and strategic positions globally while focusing on developing new subsurface technologies. Farrukh has a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, and a Masters in Petroleum Engineering from Dalhousie University. Farrukh has authored 10 papers and 3 patents, and has presented in seminars and conferences worldwide. He has been invited to write articles for multiple energy magazines and has chaired several SPE meetings, World Heavy Oil Congress and Geo-convention.
