Candice Paton is the Director for Recovery Technologies on the Alberta Innovates Clean Energy team with over 10 years of experience in technology development and innovation in energy systems. At Alberta Innovates, she partners with industry, academia and entrepreneurs to accelerate the demonstration and adoption of innovative technologies that will benefit Alberta. Her portfolio advances the innovation needed to improve oil sands production efficiency and economics by improving GHG emissions, fresh water use, and the supply cost of bitumen to be globally competitive. Previously in her career, Candice worked in industry deploying new technologies that can improve on emissions, energy efficiency and climate change impacts in oil sands facilities. Candice is passionate about energy technologies and the efforts required to move the needle on environmental performance in Alberta. She completed her B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta and her M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Calgary. She also holds her Professional Engineer designation with APEGA.
